Because of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, global health crises are running all over the world. It has emerged as one of the biggest crises of our time and the greatest challenge which the world has suffered until now. And the virus has been spread to every continent except Antarctica. Other than health crises it has come out as more of a socio-economic crisis. It has touched every country and full of potential to create devasting social, economic, financial, and political effects. It has left so deep and longstanding scars in the life of so many people across the globe.
With the worst situation, people are losing jobs and income with no way of knowing when normality will return. This has affected the employment of many people across the world. The international labor organization estimates that 400 million jobs could be lost because of this crisis.
Many research companies presented their report showing the positive and negative effects of covid19 on the environment. Especially the highly affected countries china, India, Brazil, and move on. Research shows that there is a huge improvement in air quality, clean rivers and beaches, and environmental noise reduction. Apart it has been noticed that there is a reduction in recycling and an increase in waste. Further risk in contamination of physical spaces.
Decreasing GHG (greenhouse gas) during a short period is not a sustainable way to clean the environment. There is a misunderstanding that nature is getting affected by the virus. Instead, many rural areas in the tropics are facing pressure from land grabbing, deforestation and illegal mining, wildlife poaching. People who have lost their employment are moving to rural areas, increasing the chances of transmission to rural areas. Areas which economically dependent upon tourism face reduced resources.
So, ultimately being human we should act with responsibility towards nature and the environment and to our surroundings. As we will not be going to tackle any other situation like CORONA.
